Homer is Where the Heart Is
![]() The feeling of being home is among the most cherished experiences in the world. Some spend a lifetime, and some give their life, trying to go home.
Imagine the heartbreak a senior dog experiences when they are suddenly pulled from their homes and find themselves in the terrifying, unfamiliar environment of a shelter. Dogs, being pack animals, have only one mission, to fulfill their role in the pack. We believe dogs experience the same existential angst a human would who suddenly finds their life has lost its purpose. Home For Life
Our primary goal is the create an environment in which displaced seniors are able to thrive until they can achieve a peaceful transition from this life. Seniors who come to the sanctuary are Home For Life and will be provided all the comforts our pack can offer.
All residents of the sanctuary are eligible for training as an Animal Assisted Therapist. Our hope is to give these seniors a greater sense of purpose, and demonstrate the benefits of senior dog adoption to the community at-large.
